  • Saturday Comparative Wine Tasting

    Turtle Run Winery

Continuing our Saturday "tradition," if you can call this popular comparative tasting a tradition since we have only been doing this for a few weeks now, but let's see if we can taste some contrasts between vintages and within vintages and in blending. We do have some limited quantities on some wines that will be compared. In no particular order....... Syrah 2023 to Syrah 2023 just bottled. The newly minted Syrah aged in the barn and has a dash of 2024 Syrah and 2024 Cab Franc, whereas the older bottled Syrah 2023 has a dash of 2023 Cab Sauv. Rhapsody in White versus Rhapsody in White. Both are blends of barrel aged and fermented Vignoles and tank aged Chardonnay. When blending the new version we didn't open a bottle of the version we bottled last year. That should be fun. Slip My Mind 2024 versus the 2017 with the botrytis bacteria. Can you taste the difference that aging and especially a bacteria can have an effect on the wine? It will be obvious that you can see the difference. Sweet wine with dynamic flavors! Then if someone twists my arm, how about Malbec 2023 versus Malbec 2024? To get the 2024 to remotely come close to tasting like the 2023, we blended a little 2024 Syrah and 2024 Cab Franc into the blend.

  • Exploring oak — Saturday June 21’st wine list

    Turtle Run Winery

For Saturday June 21's Wonderful Wine List we will feature....oak!!! If anyone wants to try a wine doused with an old sample of liquid oak (which might provide a histamine reaction), caveat emptor, but then you would know the flavor!! Our lead wine will be the 2018 Seyval Blanc, with the 2020 Chambourcin, 2 versions, providing some wonderful contrasts. Then, there's the barn aged wines!! For the sweet wine fans, I have some great ideas but I want to run them by our sweet staff!!

  • Tour De Pork Bike Ride and a Concert with Arianna and the Bourbon Britches

    Turtle Run Winery

Hello Cyclists and Music Lovers and both! This is the day we host "Tour De Pork Bike Ride" at Turtle Run Winery.  Choose either the 25 or the 50 mile ride through our very scenic Harrison County, the county with perhaps the best roads in Indiana.  No joking there.  I literally don't think we have a single pothole! The ride begins at 8:00, and when you return, yes indeed there is a nice meal awaiting you.  Also, you will be greeted by the amazing sounds of Arianna and the Bourbon Britches, headlined by Anna Blanton, who has appeared on America's Got Talent. Not a cyclist.  No problem.  Come on out anyway.  The music is from 11:00 to 3:00.  Oh yeah, the um...well...And part of the heading. Hmmm...Should I type this?  Yeah, why not.  Rumor has it that somewhere on the course, there might, just might be a refreshing SAG stop with...um...complimentary beer.  It's probably the last SAG stop (hint, I know it is!) If you would like to sign up for the bike ride, here is the link:http://www.friendsofthegreenway.org/le-tour-de-pork.html

  • Sunday Concert Series: Eric and the Iconics: final concert for the band!

You've seen Eric Kerr out here with The Rigby's and other bands.  Remember Brutally Handsome?  Eric and the Iconics drift us back into some good time "classic music." From Pop, Rock, Motown, R&B favorites and "seldom heard" gems of the '60s and '70s. From The Temptations to Al Green to ELO; From Etta James to Dusty Springfield to The Staples Singers. They'll take you back one song at a time.  You'll be able to relax and dance.  Fabulous vocals, male and female, great musicians throughout.  You'll be truly impressed with the ranges of the song and the tightness of the talent.
