SUMMARY:Sunday Concert Series: Radiotronic: Cancelled today due to weather\, but....
DESCRIPTION:Ahhh….Fall weather! At Turtle Run Winery today\, Sunday\, we have to cancel the concert with Radiotronic. Wind\, Rain\, falling temperatures. In lieu of the great music\, we’ll open several “Golden Oldies” to compliment our current wine list and if asked\, hey\, let’s sample the future too with barrel tastings! Cheers\, Jim \n  \nIf you’ve ever had a “Heart of Glass”\, “Take [your] Breath Away” in the “Purple Rain”\, if you were ever “Hungry Like The Wolf” and wanted to “Get Down Tonight”\, then “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”. If you are fluent in “Jive Talking” or ever got stuck in a “Bizarre Love Triangle”\, “Get Into The Groove” – “You Should Be Dancing” with RADIOTRONIC\, the five-piece rock and dance band with serious Louisville music bloodlines and bubbling\, blistering\, beautiful solo and harmony vocals from Rachel Hagan\, Kevin Garvey and Jeff Epperson. Add Ardel Cagata on bass and Luca Bianconcini behind the drum kit and you have the right kind of energetic\, seasoned band perfectly suited to play vintage 70’s\, 80’s music that will not let you stay seated. \nOur concerts are free and they are family friendly. You are welcome to bring food. We are normally selling grilled fare to benefit various programs from Special Olympics to Providence High School Swim and Dive. No other alcohol permitted. \n  \nAll concerts are outside. Wine tastings during concerts are outside. We have plenty of shade.  Wine can be purchased inside or outside. Cheese and crackers are available inside the winery. Grilled fare is sold on the east side of the winery behind the band. We have complimentary plastic cups. We sell wine glasses or you can bring your own wine glass. We suggest that you bring a lawn chair\, but if you forget one\, no problem as we’ll lend one (or two or three…) to you. Lastly\, if you would like to borrow an ice bucket for your wine\, great. We have them available\, just please return them to the winery or the tent before you leave.  No cover charge\, no parking charge\, yeah….very old school\, isn’t it? \n  \nCheers\, Laura\, Jim\, Max\, Lauren\, Joe\, Catherine\, and our wonderful staff.

SUMMARY:Blast from the Past! The Snow Recovery Date (s)
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered if that old axiom is true\, do wines get better with age?  Well\, find out this weekend at Turtle Run Winery as we are set to host our annual “Blast from the Past”.  With 25 years of winemaking\, we have a section in the winery reserved for older wines\, dry\, sweet\, red and white. \nWe know of no other winery that hosts an event like this!!! \nThis is your opportunity to sample and savor older Turtle Run Winery wines and purchase some too!  The “wine list” will constantly change over the course of Saturday and it will reset again on Sunday\, so literally both days will have different offerings.  And yes\, we will sell out of wines constantly.   If you find a wine you really crave and you see someone else who likes the same wine\, please share what is available for purchase as all wines are limited in quantity. \nWe want to see how our wines are aging\, that’s part of it.  And sometimes we age wine just because we knew the wine was great and wanted to try it years later.  We do know\, or have a very solid hypothesis that wines with minimal intervention (fining agents\, added tannins\, liquid oak\, things like that) will age the best and we make our wines with minimal interventions.  Always have \nThere is a very reasonable tasting fee of $10 which will give you access to taste more than 40\, probably more than 50 wines.  Wine prices will have zero inflation\, so the prices will mirror the prices on our wine list.  Quantity discounts by mixing and matching any of our wines will be the same as they have always been\, 10% for 6 bottles\, 15% for a case\, 20% for two cases or more. \nFolks enjoyed last weekend and we received quite a few requests to have it again this weekend due to last weekend’s snow.  Wine not\, right?

SUMMARY:"Shattering" the myth of "Red Wine Glasses" and "White Wine Glasses" through science
DESCRIPTION:More enjoyable times at Turtle Run Winery this weekend. Sunday’s weather looks great for lighting the fire rings\, always a popular gathering spot. Saturday\, storms\, so no fire. But….. \nWith limited time to put together our Wine Appreciation Classes\, on Saturday at 5:00\, I’ll be discussing the science of our “flavoring” subconscious and the physics of wine glasses. I will completely shatter (pun intended) the notion of “red wine glasses” and “white wine glasses.” \nI don’t know if I will do this in the winery or the tent. I suppose attendance will determine that. Probably an hour’s time. Just the standard tasting fee applies. I’m not really taking reservations\, but I probably should?!?! \nPerhaps I should say\, if you are interested\, send me a message or a comment on this post.  Just go on Facebook \nCheers\, Jim

SUMMARY:Vintage Variation with Chardonnay\, New Wine - Synthesis\, and a fire ring lit!
DESCRIPTION:Great tastings at Turtle Run Winery today\, plus I’ll light at least one fire ring! A little cooler to start off the day. \nChardonnay anyone? Today\, we’ll taste 3 chardonnays\, our 2024 which has been a hit on the list\, and we’ll compare it to an oldie as well as the pictured Chardonnay\, bottled this week. A blend of 2023 and 2025! Huh? Call it classic old school Burgundy blending. The 2023 brings a sharp fruit flavor and has been a backbone for blending. The 2025 is fully aged on the lees\, the spent yeast cells\, and the grapes from these two vintages come from two very distinctively different vineyards. I quickly figured out two parts 2023 to one part 2025! Enjoy! \nSynthesis is the newest white wine label. Assisting Country Heritage Vineyard last fall from Fort Wayne\, we picked up LaCrescent and Brianna grapes. The LaCrescent for this blend came from barrel fermentation\, barrel 62. Brianna comes from tank fermentation and this wine was the wine I “De-iced” in January to remove frozen water to increase the flavor concentration. Softened with a little 2025 Chardonnay and bingo\, here we go. \nFire\, warm weather\, two new wines\, two older chardonnays and today should be fun! Cheers\, Jim

DESCRIPTION:Perfect weather this Saturday and perhaps Sunday too for lighting the Fire Rings at Turtle Run Winery!! Running out of great cooler weather for the fires. So we’ll fire the rings up tomorrow and Sunday too. Also\, I’ll add a few oldies to the wine list to sample and savor. I won’t say what wines because if I did\, I would change my mind by tomorrow anyway. \n  \n
