Tour De Pork Bike Ride with the CMN band strumming hits!

The annual Tour De Pork Bike Ride is here.  Funds raised for the Tour De Pork are used to support the Ohio River Greenway project, a wonderful walking, running and cycling path along the Ohio River from New Albany, through Clarksville, to Jeffersonville.  When the Tour De Pork bike ride began being hosted at Turtle Run Winery, the pathway was in the construction and design phase.  For past riders, thank you! The bike ride begins around 8:00 AM.  Choose between the 25 or 50 mile course.  Our Harrison County roads are exquisite for cycling, no potholes and low traffic.  And all of the dogs are well behaved! When you return, you'll be treated to a wonderful lunch, compliments of the ticket you purchased for the ride. For free, enjoy the soothing sounds of the CMN Band.  CMN plays the classic easy tunes of the 1970's and 1980's.  You'll get a little Bread, some America, perhaps some Billy Joel classics and more! Music plays from 11:00 to 3:00.  Or just come for the music!  You can skip the ride and just enjoy the music. To sign up for Tour De Pork, go to the following website: http://www.friendsofthegreenway.org/le-tour-de-pork.html

Sunday Concert Series: Shannon Vetter & The Sleepless Pilgrims — cancelled due to pending rain

Turtle Run Winery

Gosh, I hated to cancel this one.  UGH.  I have been looking at the weather since 5:00 AM today, Sunday, and now it's 9:00.  Listened to all of the forecasts.  I sense this one persistent spot in Illinois is going to affect us around 3:30 to 4:00 PM today with a gully-washer of rain, which is not so good for the musical equipment, and if there is lightning, not so good for the patrons either.  I really wanted to hear this band! Dang it...Jim   Here we go, we have masterful band of southern/folk rock, which should be highly entertaining and will really get you going musically.  Lots of instrumentations including the electric guitar, bass, drums, acoustic guitar, sax, and an amazing fiddle, 1 lead vocal, 3 backup vocals.  This should be great! Our concerts are free and they are family friendly. You are welcome to bring food. We are normally selling grilled fare to benefit various programs from Special Olympics to Providence High School Swim and Dive. No other alcohol permitted. All concerts are outside. Wine tastings during concerts are outside. Wine can be purchased inside or outside. Cheese and crackers are available inside the winery. Wine Glass Tasting Experience — Today — July 5, 2024!!!!

Turtle Run Winery

Friday, July 5th at Turtle Run Winery. Thinking a lot of people are off work and perhaps looking for something fun to do. I don't do this often, certainly not often enough. I think I can manage this with our awesome staff today. For anyone who asks, we'll do one of my "Critically Acclaimed" sensory analysis on how the shape of a wine glass affects the acute flavors we perceive through volumetric pressure, vapor pressure, slope, flow rate, and the subconscious responses in nanoseconds to flavor and aroma recognition due to mouth vaporization location and rate. In semi-layman's terms, I can prove there is no such thing as a red wine glass, a white wine glass, but I can prove that wine does taste different out of different glasses and your perceptive like of this glass over that glass is tied to your individually unique biology. Anyone game? Come on out today! Cheers, Jim

Chocolate Loving Wine Down

Turtle Run Winery

We are introducing two spectacular wines, Lauren's Blend and Max's Small Batch Red -- Wedding Wine. Lauren and Max were married last October and both of them blended a wine for the wedding. Max's is impossible to recreate and luckily we bottled an extra amount. Lauren's blend was one in which we theoretically could add to the wine list, so we designed a label and painstakingly blended the wine last week. Do these wines go with chocolate? I know one does! But which one?!?! Lauren's Blend should become a staple on the semi-sweet list right next to Catherine's Blend. Max's Wedding wine is very much a limited quantity wine. This Friday and Saturday!

Turtle Run Winery

Our second longest playing band at Turtle Run Winery is back! Join us for the good time rock-n-roll classics of The Monarchs! This band is THE Louisville Tradition. This is one of the bands that's a must hear if you want solid, solid professional music with crisp, clear, concise sound. Harmonies are spot on. Great energy and great entertainment for all. Our concerts are free and they are family friendly. You are welcome to bring food. Grape Harvest: St. Croix, Frontenac and Corot Noir

Turtle Run Winery

Harvesting grapes is on my mind! This Saturday at 7:00 AM or when you can arrive, we'll be harvesting St. Croix, Frontenac and Corot Noir grapes. If you would like to help, or your organization wants to help, great. The weather forecast has been dicey earlier in the week, but it's looking good for Saturday! Whoosh, right? We normally pick from 7:00 to 12:00 Noon. Some folks I know can't get here right at 7:00 and that's fine. 8:00 works too! FYI, how in the *&^%$ world did weeds grow so fast in 2 weeks? I just finished hand weeding the Frontenac vineyard and our teenage super helpers (back in school) hand weeded St. Croix and part of Frontenac. Hashtag, we don't like the commercial herbicides here! Here is a picture of catawba, another grape we grow and the difference in the photos is about a month in time. Cheers, Jim
